Don't Let Cancer Scare You
Most people do not realize that our bodies are bombarded on a daily basis with things that damage our cells. Damage to our cellular DNA occurs from normal metabolic activities as well as from environmental factors, including synthetic chemicals in our personal care products.
Luckily, with a healthy immune system, our bodies destroy these damaged cells as they occur and no harm results. However, if our immune system is compromised, it is less likely to recognize and destroy these damaged cells before they can replicate. These rapidly dividing, mutated cells are the foundation for cancer.
You have probably heard the saying, "You are what you eat." Our bodies have the incredible ability to repair themselves if we give them the proper tools. The proper tools start with a healthy diet. A diet rich in raw fruits and vegetables and consisting of at least 50% raw food overall, is one of your best options for preventing or recovering from cancer. The less food you consume out of boxes, cans, and mass produced locations, the better.
Mass produced food brings up the subject of hospitals. When I was served meals after giving birth to our first daughter, I was horrified at the food that was brought to me. It was so highly processed that it made me stop to think. I came here perfectly healthy, but if I eat this I'm going to go home with diabetes and cancer! I thought the hospital is where people come to get well? I realize that one meal does not cause cancer and diabetes, but I think you get my point.
Another thing that people may not realize is that the term "all natural" on a food item does necessarily mean that it is healthy. For example, carrageenan is an ingredient that is considered "all natural" (since it is extracted from Irish moss) even though it may increase your risk of colon cancer. That is because once it is processed, it becomes a form that has been proven to cause colon cancer in rats. Carrageenan is added to many dairy products, as well as some brands of soy milk, rice milk and infant formula as a thickening agent. It imparts a rich, creamy texture to a product without adding the cost and fat content of real cream.
Most people are not aware that one third of all personal care products contain one or more ingredients listed as a probable human carcinogen. Even worse, one out of every five adults are potentially exposed every day to all of the top seven carcinogenic impurities common to personal care product ingredients - hydroquinone, ethylene dioxide, 1,4-dioxane, formaldehyde, nitrosamines, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and acrylamide. The top most common impurity ranked by number of people exposed is hydroquinone, which is a potential contaminant in products used daily by 94% of all women and 69% of all men1.
Luckily, products with 100% beneficial ingredients are available.
